Yes, and about eight other names. Vacuum lifter, glass lifter, glass sucker, suction lifter, vacuum cup lifter, glass vacuum lifter, panel lifter, slab lifter and stone lifter all describe the same machine: a powered frame with rubber pads that grips a smooth surface by vacuum so one operator can lift, tilt and place it. No High Risk Work Licence is required to operate a vacuum lifter itself. What is required is that the operator is trained and competent, that you do a pre-use check of the seals, vacuum level and alarm, and that nobody works underneath a suspended panel. We'll run you through the controls at handover. Check your site's own requirements and SafeWork NSW guidance for the lift you're planning.

Yes — the pads seal against the outer face, so double glazed units (IGUs), laminated glass and toughened panels are all standard work for these machines, as long as the panel weight is within the rated capacity and the surface is clean and non-porous.

Anything with a smooth, non-porous face: aluminium composite and cladding panels, stone and engineered stone benchtops, sheet metal, polished concrete panels, large-format tiles and compact laminate. Porous or heavily textured surfaces won't hold vacuum reliably — tell us the material and we'll say straight out whether it'll work.

Yes. Our Glassboy units tilt through 90° from flat to vertical and rotate 360°, with wireless remote control, so you can pick a panel off a stillage lying flat and present it upright into an opening without manhandling it.

The vacuum system holds a reserve and an audible alarm warns you before vacuum drops to an unsafe level, so you have time to set the panel down. That's exactly why the rule is never to stand or work under a suspended load.
