Both. The CM Lodestar and Pacific PEHs ranges are single phase, so they plug into standard site power with no three-phase supply. The Pacific PEH, Hitachi and Liftket ranges run on 415V three phase, and Hitachi also builds single phase models to 2 tonne. Tell us what power you have on site and we'll match it.

Every range has overload protection, upper and lower limit switches, a brake that engages automatically if power is lost, motor thermal protection and a low-voltage pendant. All models are built to comply with AS1418.2. The Hitachi range uses an electro-mechanical overload limiter rather than a slipping clutch.

The hoist comes with its pendant control station, fabric chain container and rigid hook suspension as standard. Just tell us your mounting arrangement (beam trolley, lifting beam, etc.) and we'll make sure you've got everything needed on site.

Yes — radio remote control is an option on the Pacific PEH and Hitachi ranges. Every hoist comes with a low-voltage pendant control as standard (IP65 on the Pacific units). Ask when you book so we set the unit up before it leaves the yard.

It matters if you're lifting it into position by hand. The lightest unit in the fleet is the 250kg Liftket STAR at 18kg; a 1 tonne hoist typically sits between 37kg and 62kg depending on brand, and the 5 tonne models run 121–146kg. Every hoist weight is listed in the tables above.

Not quite, and the difference matters. A chain block is manual — you pull a hand chain. An electric chain hoist, which is what we hire, lifts and lowers from a pendant or radio remote. Both get searched as chain hoist hire, chain block hire, electric hoist hire, electric chain block, lifting hoist, overhead hoist, rigging hoist or just hoist hire. No licence is required to operate the hoist itself. Depending on the work, the person slinging and directing the load may need a dogging or rigging ticket — that depends on the lift, not the hoist. You also need a suitable, rated anchor point or beam. Check your site's requirements and SafeWork NSW guidance if you're not certain.

3 metres of lift is the standard build across the Pacific ranges, with the Hitachi L Series available in 3m and 6m. Tell us how far you actually need to lift and we'll make sure the chain length suits before it leaves the yard.

Only if you need the load to travel along a beam. If you're lifting straight up from a fixed point, the hoist hooks onto a rated anchor and that's it. If you need to move the load sideways, you'll want a trolley to suit your beam flange width — motorised trolleys are available across the Pacific and Hitachi ranges. Work off the heaviest thing you'll lift and add a margin — then check what power you have on site. Under about 500kg the single phase CM Lodestar or Hitachi L Series will do, and they're light enough to lift into position by hand. The housings are fully enclosed and rated IP54 to IP66 depending on the range, so light weather is fine, but they're not designed to sit out in sustained rain. Keep the unit covered where you can and make sure the power supply and leads are protected and RCD-protected.
