A High Risk Work Licence (class WP) is only required for boom-type elevating work platforms with a boom length of 11m or more — note that's boom length, not working height. A push around manlift is a vertical mast lift, not a boom lift, so no HRWL is required at any of our platform heights. You must still be trained and competent: that's a legal duty, not a suggestion. In practice that means an EWPA Yellow Card in the Vertical Lift (VL) category — it's an industry training programme rather than a licence, but most commercial sites won't let you operate without one, and a scissor lift card doesn't automatically cover a vertical lift. You'll also need a completed pre-start check. Confirm your site's requirements and SafeWork NSW guidance before you start.

Usually, yes — that's a big part of why people hire them. They're narrow enough for standard doorways and light enough for most building lifts and suspended floors, so you can work multiple levels of a fitout without craning anything. These are indoor and firm-level-surface machines. They need a flat, firm, compacted surface — concrete, bitumen, tiled or timber floors. Grass, gravel, soft ground and slopes are outside what they're designed for; for that you want a rough-terrain scissor lift or a boom, and we can point you in the right direction.
